What Should I Read Over the Summer?
Great adventure and historical fiction books you do not want to miss.
Car chases, kidnappings, and gunfights. Have you ever read books like these?
First off, I love reading. I’ll spend the whole night binge-reading a series or just opening a new book just for fun. Personally, I love a good adventure or a historical fiction thriller. I love to think that a good book is just a way to waste your time by not wasting time because even though it’s fun, you are actually learning things like history and vocabulary and building your imagination.
A series that you should read if you haven’t already is the I,Q series by Roland Smith. This is an adventure and mystery series. The series starts off when Q finds out that he got wrapped up into the spy business after he was on a music world tour with his parents. Even though the book is intended for younger audiences (5th-8th grade), I find this series really fun because these books have a great mix of humor and action so the book is exciting to read. I also like this series because it is full of non-stop action. Think car chases, kidnappings, and gunfights. Have you ever read a book like this?
Once you are finished with Smith, you should also read The Smartest Kid in the Universe by Chris Grabenstein. This is a humorous series with tons of plot twists, which I won’t spoil for you. Jake McQuade starts off being really dumb but goes to a hotel and becomes really smart because he ate some jelly beans. That’s when he starts finding out why he’s so smart and becomes one with the smart ones at school. I like this book because it kind of resembles my life: I’m funny and friendly but have difficult social problems with some people. It is always full of puzzles which you don’t know how to solve until you’re at the end.
Another stellar book series that is a must read is Assassin’s Creed by Oliver Bowden. These books take place over a period of time, like the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution, the American Revolution, and the French Revolution. These books are for young adults so if you would like a challenge, you’ll want to give these a try. Also, these books go in chronological order so I suggest that you read the book in order of the series. As well as being historical fiction, these books are based on the video games, so if you like the games, you will love the books like I do.
Lastly, you should 100% read Charlie Thorne by Stuart Gibbs, another adventure book jam packed with problem solving as well as action. This series starts off when Charlotte gets busted by the CIA but finds out that her half-brother is behind the bust. The reading level of this book is intended for middle schoolers. This book is really fun to read because it always has problems to solve while chasing down life-changing, and world-threatening discoveries made by the world’s greatest thinkers like Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, and Cleopatra. I like this series because it always has a great plot, has some humor in it, and is chock-full of constant twists and turns that you don’t expect. Also, you need to read each book in the order they come to understand the following book.
After reading my suggested list, you will know how to be smart, how to be really sneaky and underhanded, how to escape trouble, and how to travel the world while hunting down mysteries. I hope that you will take my advice and read these amazing series! Who knows what type of wormholes you will open up with these books?
